I picked this up as the plastic version is one of my daughter's favourite tricks. It's a nice version of it. The tutorial is short, but more than covers what you need to know. The wood makes it a little noise than plastic versions so I've put a bit of felt inside the lid to reduce the clattering and that's helping.

Hi Joshua, I solve the "noise problem" like this: The spectator already knows that I can recognize the number by the noise. As soon as I start to turn around, I deliberately rattle the box. The lid moves within this time—and the noise is completely muffled! By the way, you know that with a little practice, the move is possible with just one hand? I place my thumb in the middle of the lid and then maneuver it down (very close to the box)—in doing so, the ball of my hand lifts the box slightly—and the lid fits perfectly. Cheers!

question re mental block dice by Dan Harlan. do you have to be very good at sleight-of-hand to be able to do the third phase of making the dice completely disappear? Or could a complete novice do it after just a little practice? Ty
