Pretty disappointed with this. Even my Daughter from a couple of yards away could spot what was going on. Definitely would be burned if I did this in my close up set.
Not a patch on torched and restored.

You're not doing it right, then. I would practice a bit more and try filming yourself and re-watching the tape. Believe me, filming helps practice framing and angles.
