This is a truly awesome effect. Really leaves the audience amazed.
The wallet is generally very
well made and sturdy, Should last a long, long time.
But, two problems. First, the slots for
credit cards are not long enough. None of my cards fit. Had to cut down old cards.
Second,
when I first got the wallet, I could only load the gimmick correctly about one out of 3 or 4 tries.
I then removed the rear cardboard (a thin piece or cardboard, white on one side and raw cardboard on
the other), and the gimmick worked perfectly every time. The video (which was generally excellent)
didn’t say to do this, but it made all the difference in the world. I now love the trick - close up
and parlor. Haven’t yet done it on stage.
I precede it with a key thru card trick. I take
out the wallet, remove a bill and perform Ignition by Chris Smith (a car key thru a bill; could do a
pen thru bill). Then I proceed to the mentalism routine. I think this makes the wallet more
ordinary, since I’m not just using it for the card reading.
Also I have one spectator draw a
simple outline figure (eg. face or tree) on the right half of the card, and then another spectator
draw a simple symbol or shape (eg. star or triangle) on the left part. This does make it a harder
to see and remember during the peek, but is more effective. And if I don’t get both figures perfect,
that just adds to the effect. If any significant difference, I say, “It’s really hard to get all
the details especially if you’re not used to transmitting your thoughts.”
Powerful trick. Not
cheap, but worth the price. I recommend it highly.
