LOWEST QUALITY TEACHING Report this review

Dear All,

This product has the LOWEST QUALITY Teaching ever made with BLUR Display and Subtitles appearing between the video making it highly IMPOSSIBLE to see whats going on. Furthermore the Gimmick used is black in colour and the table cloth on which the "ClonK" routine is explained is also Black thereby making it IMPOSSIBLE to see. The instructions are given in SPANISH and this is absolutely intolerable when we are paying holy $380 Bucks. Is this a JOKE? No sleights are explained in detail and the the one who teaches tricks is in some kind of HURRY.
Where to place the Gimmick how to Work on it while placing in jacket etc is not explained in detail At-All. Of course, this product is for professionals (I am doing card magic and advanced sleights for over 8 years now) and now I am transitioning to coin magic and I Assert that it is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE to teach all in detail. The video is not even shot in HD. Come on, we are living in 2016 and not 1930s.
Furthermore, you have to BUY Coin Shells (Gimmicks) to perform all routines listed and taught on the clonk which are NOT provided in the package which comes for $380 Bucks which is absolutely horrible with additional BAD TEACHING. I am absolutely DISSATISFIED with this purchase after paying 380 Bucks for this LOWEST QUALITY. We deserve and have a RIGHT to demand and expect that much quality when you pay HUGE amounts of money.
IF ALL OF THE ABOVE THINGS WERE TAUGHT AND INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE,
IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH!
I have never written such a BAD review at Penguin and I have been a regular customer at Penguin. I would sincerely request penguin to contact the Creator and Make him do all the things mentioned above.
Then only I will use this product. Literally, I stopped 1000 times during the video to figure what the Heck is being taught with those NASTY SUBTITLES IN BETWEEN!

Hello my friend.
Im very sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the product.
I will try to stop and explain every point of your review. I know it will not help you solve any problem, but at least you have the information.

1. Video is in Spanish, yes. This is our first "hit" product, we didnt expect to reach so far. We are overwhelmed by the grate success, and by the grate reviews we are having. We also receive improvements and possibly, the most commented improvement would be to have English videos. But the product was released at FISM 2015 in Italy, and our target customers were Italians, Germans and French. We couldnt record videos in all that languages, so we opted for subtitles. But I take note, and do it that way the next time. For this time the only solution are the subtitles, sorry for that.

2. Regarding the explanations, again, we are new to this, and some details could be missing. You are right about the table cloth, it should been white to see better the details. Roman explains everything in detail, but he is not Michael Ammar. All sleights are explained, but our intention was not to be as good as David Roth explanations.

3. The videos are all in FULL HD. Quality is selected automaticaly depending on you internet connection, but you can change the quality of the video at the bottom right. If you want to watch the instructions with your cellphone and you are not at home, you can lower the quality to save on your data plan.

4. In product description it says you have to provide the coins yourself. This is because every magician may have different taste for the coins to use. Also most of them already have their own set of coins.

5. You mention many times the quality and the price. At this point i have to disagree. EVERY PART of this product is high quality. If at any moment we had to choose between different options for producing it, we always choose the quality option. Regarding the price, this is obscure to the final client. But if you would like to know how pricing work in magic, i would recommend the book "Marketing magic" by Maxwell Murphy (http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/2580). Its a very interesting book that explain all this. You will be amazed by the ridiculous percentage that creators get for each product sold. And this percentage includes all the cost. If you read this, you will understand why the price of $380 is indeed not that high.

However, I do understand your frustration and agree that video could be in English without subtitles, and that sleight could be more detailed. I hear you voice and will do better with next products.

If you have any question that is not well explained on a video you can contact me directly and i will try to solve you any doubt. Send a contact form here: http://ideaalab.com/en/contact

Regards!
Martin Andersen

Dear Respected Martin Andersen,

I agree with some of the points you discussed there on a reply to my Penguin Magic Review. I never said the product is bad quality. The product is super elegant but the teaching has to be improved a lot and needs to be close up teaching and Not from far too away. Furthermore, the subtitles are getting in between the presentation of the video which is not quite good. The details should be very clear (For instance, you vanish the coin in your jacket you do not teach that you just show it.) Furthermore, the video is shot in a kind of hurry, it should be slow and close up. What I will suggest is regardless of price the detail should be there in almost any trick on the market. Furthermore, the Eisenhower Dollar Coin Shell comes for $50 on penguin, again increasing the cost to perform the effect. I absolutely love the product and I want to perform the effect. For doing it I need to learn it in Thanksgiving Break as I am a student in the US. I want to perform this effect on stage in December once I return to my home country. Thank you very much for the support. I am ready to take down the Bad Review if a new tutorial is added and uploaded to penguin.
Thanking You,
Best Regards,
Rohan Chitale.

Clonk 3
Is self explanatory
obviously you are confused
the best scenario for an amature magician,
would be to tell the spectators to throw invisible coins
if you want you $ back
surely Penguin will refund it
however dont blame them for lack of magic experience

With respect, the complaint is valid and in today's day and age, there is no excuse for it to continue to be valid. the Creator should create another video and provide a link to its customers with a slower, clearer explanation and teach a few basic moves. It isn't too much to ask, especially at this price point.

Yes, grabbing a copy of Bobo's would easily fill in the gaps, but the video explanation can and should be improved.

I understand Penguin has been out of stock for awhile and I would like to say I'm buying one secondhand and had to make sure that the quality was there. The user complaints are valid and to pay that much money upfront is something we as magicians must understand. Mental Dice, Sparkling, and other effects that utilize a remote create amazing effects for cheaper and safer effects. I would be concerned as well and would honestly appreciate a reshot tutorial with Rick Lax maybe. I get it, we need to know some palming, but we can't hate on someone who isn't confident or even capable of certain sleights.
