Bought a 12 pack brick and I love the feel of these cards, really believe they handle better than
any cards I've used before. I can't justify removing a star over this but my one complaint is on the
bottom of each card case, it has printed Penguin Magic's info. As magicians we're always trying to
convince our spectators that a deck is "normal". It's annoying that an actual ungimmicked deck of
cards has a magic company's name on it on the box. Now it is fine print and there's a chance that no
spectator would ever notice it, but still I'd greatly prefer it not be there.
Agreed, I switched them to other boxes.
Did you consider just switching the box out for another?
It's really not that big a deal if you are concerned about a spectator suspecting they are magic cards.
eholtw, you say it's "not a big deal", but that doesn't negate his personal opinion for a product on which he spent his hard earned money. He makes a valid complaint.
If it were a more expensive product, like a car, would you say "it's not a big deal, just repaint it"?
The whole point of a review is to share one's opinion on something.
Switching the box mean also that you can't open a new box in front of the spectator
I've been using these exclusively for years. I didn't like the logo on the bottom at first, either. Though I've never had anyone notice it. Some people notice the Elite Edition on the face of the box. I explain that these are a professional, more expensive, edition of standard Bicycle cards designed by professional card workers. (Casino dealers, etc.) By mentioning they're expensive I have a reason to not let people handle them whenever they want, as well!
You could always put a white sticky label on the bottom, covering the logo, with a card prediction on it, or whatever, for some effect.
