"A super clever take on a classic plot. A hands-hoff handling of the ace problem that’s definitely worth checking out." - Sebastian Midtvage

"The Hofzinser Ace Problem is my favorite plot in card magic. This is the best way to do it!" - Josh Burch

"This is a great hands-off trick. Not only that but the spectator gets to make the selection in their own hands! I think Hofzinser would think this is pretty cool!!!" - Nathan Kranzo

"This is one of those 2 punch tricks, where if you don't get them in the first part, you'll knock 'em out in the second! Fantastic work and thinking from Josh as always." - Andrew Neiner

"If you have always wanted to perform the infamous Hofzinger Ace Problem, then you need to forget about the hassle and get THE HOFF!" - Cody S. Fisher

You'll fool everybody, and they never see the twist coming!

The Hoff is a hands-off miracle where the aces not only divine the card selected by the spectator, but you also get a killer transposition that requires no moves. Josh Burch is back with a killer approach to Hofzinser’s Ace Problem that your audiences will love. This is The Hoff by Josh Burch.

Here’s what happens:

The four aces are produced and then placed off to the side. A spectator takes the deck under the table and cuts the deck to select a card. With a wave of the hand, one of the aces mysteriously turns face down. When the selected card is revealed, it is discovered that the suit of the selected card matches the ace that has turned face down. The deck is placed back on the table, and after a magical gesture, the deck is spread on the table to reveal that a card has turned face up in the middle of the deck. Impossibly the face-up card in the middle of the deck is the ace that was face down, and when the face-down card between the other aces is turned over, it is discovered to be the selected card.

The Hoff comes with specially printed cards on Maiden Back cards that do all of the work for you. In addition to this amazing trick, you will also learn a fun ace production that you can use in your other routines. The Hoff is a killer opener for any card set and an engaging effect that will baffle your audience. Give your audience a card mystery that they will never forget with The Hoff by Josh Burch.

A little convoluted for me Report this review

Quite a lot to remember and easy to forget without consistent practice. Not sure if the effort required is worth the bang, but otherwise Josh Burch gives a great tutorial and the cards are fine. Decent trick, just not my speed.

easy to perform miracle Report this review

Very good instructions. There is a specific card you probably don't have that is included. Simple to do yet great result. You need to do a bit of cleanup in the end but Josh shows some ideas. One with removing the jokers to help get rid of the gimmicks which makes a lot of sense. So you can setup before hand, open with this, then get rid of the jokers for your next trick and at same time cleaning up.

I admit I’m a beginner just learning my way. John Burch has given a nice effect easy to learn with good impact with the Hoff. Also good routine.

Bit convoluted, gaffs unnecessary Report this review

There are many ways to achieve the same basic effect without resorting to gaffs. You're left dirty right when the heat is in. There's a lot for spectators to follow which can make it underwhelming for some.

Too convoluted and the wow effect not quite what I expected Report this review

As somebody said, there is a lot that you have to know/learn and remember to pull this off. You do have to practice/perform it quite a bit. If you are very experienced and used to doing this, then you should be ok, otherwise you will discover that you should have practiced more or that your memory is not what it used to be. IMHO this is not for beginners or people who don’t do this all of the time. In the few performances many people unfortunately were not impressed. I know it is probably the performer (me) :-)

Why haven't you gotten this yet?
Are you second guessing yourself?.....don't.
Its fire and the price is a steal imo and you
are getting the reveal and method, not just the gimmicks needed. I plan on buying another 1 or 2 my next time around!

Simple and Deceptive…. Magic Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on October 6th, 2022
The Hoff is a good play. The only downside is that you don’t end easily clean. Not everything can be inspected and a spectator is focused/directed on the final card just asking for you to risk exposure.

The Hoff includes the cards you need to add to your own deck. The video is easy to follow with both the performance and tutorial. There are some elements of the Hoff that can be incorporated into other tricks. I really like how the spectator handles the deck under a table and can truly cut to nearly anyplace in the deck. So simple and deceptive.

This is one of Penguins best card tricks available in my opinion. At first, I glanced over it and didn't purchase it then my second time around I scooped it up and I am happy I did!! You could even add a creepy Halloween type of story to heighten the response. 🎃
