I have just ordered Dan Harlan's The Awakening. I haven't received it yet but have watched the explanation and am certain it will be a huge hit with family & friends (I am an amateur magician who basically just performs for family & friends). I am also taking Dan Harlan's Tarbell course Every Trick in the Book. I am a little behind as I am only on Lesson 67 which is perfect because I am waiting to get Harlan's rope trick The Awakening in the mail. So I watched this Lesson (Modern Rope Tricks). There are definitely a number of tricks I will incorporate into a short show for my fam. That way they will get a full show of rope magic. the rope tricks will require some prep but are almost self working once set up properly. As usual Dan Harlan teaches each trick completely and thoroughly so you always know just what to do, how to do it, and you also get some great banter as well as simple tips you can use in other areas of magic. 5 wholehearted stars!

Highlight for me was Tony Lopilato's Ring on the Rope. Clever method!

Most of the early tricks were mediocre at best. However, the last couple were great.

One of my favorite Tarbell tricks is in here; whereby, a ring is magically removed from a short piece of rope, which itself transform into an enormous length of rope.

There is also one fo the better grand-mother's-necklace tricks, with the magician's tie also coming off on to the ropes as they penetrate the magician.

Net, a good lesson.

Another great Tarbell session with Dan Harlan. This is good, really good. In this session there is the material for a solid fifteen minute (or more) Act using rope. Well shot, well taught, and a sheer delight. Worth much more than the price charged.

Great routines for all venues and using for the most part non-gimmicked ropes. Dan continues to do a terrific job of modernizing these effects and coming up with strong routines. If you don't buy this and the other 66 volumes, shame on you.
