You announce that youre about to perform one of the oldest effects in all of magic. In your left hand you hold three cups. On the table youve placed three balls. All you ask of your audience is that they watch carefully.

One-by-one you place the cups upside down in a row on the table. With your thumb and forefinger you place one of the balls atop the center cup. You stack the first and third cup on the center cup trapping the ball between the cups. You make brief eye contact with your spectators, snap your fingers, and tap the stack of cups smartly. You lift the stack. To the amazement of your spectators, the ball has traveled down through the stack of cups and sits mischievously on the table.

Now your spectators know what to look for. You proceed Again you place the cups on the table one-by-one, but this time you place the center cup over the first ball. You place the second ball atop the center cup. You stack, snap and tap. With an intrigued look you lift the stack to reveal that the second ball has traveled down through the stack of cups and is sitting on the table next to the first ball.

Without hesitation you heighten the effect by repeating the procedure with the third ball. Your spectators are by this time convinced that there is something funny about those cups. They demand to inspect the cups and the balls. No problem. You shrug and hand them over.

Lance Burton recently performed cups and balls on TV.

Cups and Balls are one of the most familiar magical props of all times. Images of this trick were found in ancient Egyptian burial tombs dating back to 2500 B.C. Today modern magicians are still entertaining and confusing their audiences with this remarkable piece of legendary magic.

when i was reading the review on this product i read somthing about somebody saying they were too big. well just to help that person out the reason of their size is so if you know how you could load larger objects in the cups for the finally but if you still want smaller cups i recently was watching the demos and saw penguin is now selling mini penguin cups for about the same price of these cups so if the person who wrote about the size is reading the review just to see how the reviews on this product is getting or anybody else about to complain about the size i hope this helps.

Here are some really nice cups for a good price. The cups and balls is has been around for a long time and for a very good reason. The routine is very visual and always gets good reactions from the crowd. The cups aren't too heavy so they are easy to carry around. The downside to aluminum though is that it's a soft metal so just be careful with them. You definitely don't want any dents in these babies. If you are new to the cups and balls, this is a good set to start with.

These cups are excellent value for money,The routine that it comes with is good but not great. I would reccomend buying a book/video/DVD with more effects.
But out of 10 i would rate these 10!

Great cups period! Report this review

These cups are very nice indeed, of course they are not of the same quality as the Penguin cups but for 20$ you get a lot of good stuff. Not to mention that I was able to find two other balls that are exactly like the one that came with my set so now I have 3 balls of different colors to use as big loads.

So now I have all the tools to practice and perform great routines. Don't worry about reflections in the aluminum, if you handle them right no one will ever pick it up.

I might get a set of high quality cups someday, but I don't see the necessity at this point. For the moment I have four great routines down including the one shown in the demo for the copper Penguin Cups and people just love it!!!

One more thing though... Practice!!! ;)

Buy A Set of These Report this review

I would suggest that if you are really serious about being a Magician that you save some money and buy a good set of Cups and Balls. The best Cup and Ball set for the money is Penguin Magic’s Penguin Cups. The Penguin Cups set is almost perfect. Penguin Cups are the finest set of Cups and Balls that Penguin Magic offers. They're under a hundred dollars and are not really that expensive like some Cup and Ball sets are. They are made out of solid copper and will last you a life time.

If you do not want to spend that kind of money right now on a set of Cups and Balls then your next best choice would be Penguin Magic’s Aluminum Cups and Balls. These are a really nice set of aluminum Cups and Balls and they are nicely balanced. This is what I bought and this is what I use. I’m happy with them and someday I will probably purchase the Penguin Cups but for now, I’m using Penguin Magic’s Aluminum Cup and Ball set. They are a great beginner Cup and Ball set for the money.

Ignore the negative reviews about Penguin Magic’s Aluminum Cup and Ball set. This set is the correct size, the right weight and they are nicely balanced. Don’t worry about your spectators seeing the reflection of your red ball on the inside of the aluminum cup. The Aluminum used in this Cup and Ball set is not very shiny but nice dull finish. Also remember that correct handling of the cups and practicing of the routine will take care of any reflection on the inside of the aluminum cup. I’ve seen photographs of many famous Magicians, like Dai Vernon, using some non-copper reflective shiny metal Cup and Ball sets. The Magician makes the magic not the props.

I would highly recommend that you purchase Penguin Magic’s Aluminum Cup and Ball set and learn this great “Classic” magic effect. The Cups and Balls routine is popular for a reason and it packs small but plays big.

I got this set of cups because I wanted to upgrade from the plastic set, and I'm glad I made the change! These cups are great for use in a full routine with a jumbo load at the end becasue they are bigger than the plastic set. It's worth the money. A good set of cups gives your magic a professional look. Practice, so the whole thing looks professional.

These cups are really awesome, they are durable. I was a little disappointed by the size of them though, they look a lot bigger than they really are.
