A self-working, powerhouse poker trick that plays HUGE!

Tom Dobrowolski's BIG FOUR POKER is an absolute powerhouse of a magic trick. Completely self working, hugely involving for one spectator, a small group or even a full stage performance and ending with a climax that is as hilarious as it is shocking. It packs tiny (just one indestructible plastic credit card sized 'instruction' sheet and a pack of cards) but it plays like a closer!

You offer to teach your audience the fantastic new game of BIG FOUR POKER. A spectator removes 16 cards from a shuffled deck. Under the rules of BIG FOUR POKER the spectator is instructed to shuffle, cut and mix the packet in numerous ways (including mixing face up and face down cards). Unlike any other casino game, the spectator is in charge of all the shuffling and mixing. In fact you (as the magician) stay hands off!

When the spectator is satisfied that the packet is thoroughly mixed THEY then deal out four hands of poker, one for the house and three for players. They can deal with the packet face up or face down. Their choice. They then choose ANY of the player's hands for themselves. After all of this hands-off behavior you finally step in and reveal that Big Four Poker is a game that you just don't lose, because despite all of the spectator's free actions you somehow always win.

I received the DVD monday morning. Watched it once. Opened my photoshop and created my own gimmick in french. Practiced it on monday evening. Performed it 4 times at a strolling gig last night (tuesday). It got awesome reactions. It's engaging, the spectator does all the work just like it says on the trailer and it plays huge. All you need is a bit of audience management and a solid presentation and you got yourself a winner. highly recommended!

I had reversed engineered the trick before I bought it and bought it to get the credit sized card, as I perform mainly roving. Unfortunately, the credit sized card is cluttered up with a bunch of poker cribs on the reveal side (back), which makes it unusable. I emailed Big Blind Media and suggested I go to the printers and get a better card made. WTF??

The jumbo sized card is fine and is exactly as shown on the demo, but too big to fit into a wallet.

PS) If I can post a photo here, I will post one of what came on the back side of the card.

I don't do many reviews for the simple reason that I'm not an accomplished magician and don't feel adequate to rate effects that are beyond my abilities to perform (which is exclusively for family and friends. I would like to give Tom Dombrowski a big thank you for releasing this effect as it's a "feel good" item which is very easy to perform and leaves lots of room for personalization in presentation. Good magicians could dress this up with lots of false shuffles and cuts in order to make the routine more "mysterious," but for just having a good time for yourself and providing one for your participants, all you'll need is the ability to make a swing cut and shuffle off retaining a top stock of 16 cards. The thing I liked most about the routine was the fact that everyone I showed it too (including those who usually groan at the thought of seeing another magic trick) was laughing at the end and seemed to genuinely enjoy the presentation.

This is a fun routine, the rules cards are well made but you would probably want to customise your own. The routine is easy to perform as it is practically self working.
Definitely worth the money spent.
