You give the spectator a dictionary containing thousands of words and a couple of dice. The directions are simple...A word will be chosen by choice and by chance. The chance consists of rolling the dice to get any random numbers. Then the choice comes into play...the spectator can use those number in several ways. For example if they rolled a 5 and a 4, they could add those numbers and turn to page 9. They could put them together one way and turn to page 45 or put them together another way and turn to page 54....or they could roll them again and start with new numbers.

Heck they don't even need real dice! They can just imagine the numbers that come up!

Whatever they choose, they open the book to the selected page and think of the first word on the page. The magician concentrates and writes down his prediction. The spectator names their word and, lo and behold, they are a perfect match!

Very easy, very effective, and a steal at this price! No tough stuff or memory work. Always a different word and all the props easily fit into the inside pocket of almost any suit coat. A super off beat effect for strolling magicians. Comes complete....dictionary, dice, note pad, and full instructions!

When I opened the package, I was initially disappointed because the it seemed too little for the price--2 normal dice, a normal dictionary, a normal spiral bound notebook, a tiny piece of paper, and a very ordinary secret. However, the routine intrigued me and I decided to give it a try. At my local magic get-together it sailed right by the guys and, admitting that they had been fooled, asked that I repeat the trick. I did and it fooled them again. Since the roll of honest dice caused a different page and a different word to be selected each time from an honest dictionary and since the outcome seemed so impossible to predict, no one thought the secret could be so simple. Proper presentation and just two seconds of good misdirection make this a great trick. You are paying for Paul Richard's thinking and creativity that went into this effect rather than for props but the principle is very sound. The method of calculating the page number with dice makes the range of numbers seem huge. In fact, once you know the principle, you can use it with any normal book, with advance preparation. The effect is limited only by your creativity. For example, I have changed it to use three unprepared books. The spectator selects one by rolling the dice, and rolls again to select the page number. True, the routining, preparation, and misdirection needed all increase but the effect is enhanced.

In fact this can be modified to use any book of your choice. Its crazy simple and its a knock out. This can be used in walk around which is nice, no reset time what so ever. Since its a book test it can be done on stage as well. The spectator holds the book before and after they memorize a word. You do not touch it again until after you reveal their thought.
