Here is the answer I got from Jim Sisti when I asked the same question on Osterlind's website;

"Yes, there is a difference between the two. The Corinda set was one Richard did for L&L Publishing based on the classic book. The Penguin set represents Richard's personal "13 Steps" - his own suggestions on the needed steps to become a proficient mentalist. While there is a little overlap between the sets, it's probably useful to think of the two sets as one being based on Corinda's work and the other is based solely on Richard's own."

The original 13 Steps to mentalism DVD set covers material strictly from the book and follows those lessons closer. Osterlind's 13 Steps to Mentalism set however covers original material from his own "13 step" series, and not from the book.
