Eisenhower dollars are great to use in magic or practice palming and manipulating dollar sized coins if you don't want to risk dropping and banging up expensive silver dollars. So these certainly serve their purpose. But I've found several of these at my local banks over the years. And do you know what they sell them for at the banks? A dollar. These are circulated, legal U.S. coins. Charging over seven bucks for them is the equivalent of saying I'll sell you a two dollar bill for ten dollars. Even if you buy them from online coin stores, (who will jack the price up in order to make a profit), you can get them cheaper. A couple of years ago, I bought 18 Eisenhower dollars online and they cost me $1.18 each. These do not have silver in them. They are not "rare" coins, though you don't see a lot these days. But they still are in circulation. Banks get them. Stores accept them. While there are good for anything you want to use them for...the price is far too much for a coin that, with a little patience or perseverance, you can find for...well...a dollar.

These coins are great. In the euro-countries the two euro coin is the biggest coin out there. It is a bit smaller then the half dollar. The eisenhower coin is big, visible and has a good sound when you flip it into the air. Great for magic!

This coin also makes a good practice coin. When you mastered a trick with an Eisenhower dollar, doing the trick with a half dollar or 2-euro coin is a breeze.
