The magician calls upon a spectator to help in a mental experiment of mind control. A packet of twenty cards is handed to the spectator for his examination. He is asked to shuffle the packet and place them face down on the magician's hand.

While the spectator is shuffling, the magician removes a packet of file cards and a magic marker from his pocket. A prediction is made on one of the file cards and placed face down on the table.

The spectator is asked to make three piles of cards, three cards in each pile, using the cards from the top of the deck. Now he is asked to point to two of the piles and the magician removes those two and places them in his pocket. With the one pile left, he is asked to spread the cards out and then select two of them. The magician now places these two cards in his pocket. The remaining single card is turned over along with the magician's prediction and they match!
