Imagine walking up to someone and having them THINK OF ANY CARD. Running through the deck you pull out their selected card and set it aside. The rest of the deck is shuffled face up to face down. Their thought of card changes colors (red back with a blue deck or vice versa.) Then the deck becomes unmixed and the BACKS ALL CHANGE TO MATCH THE BACK OF THE THOUGHT OF CARD.

This multiple climax effect has been tested in front of thousands of people and every single time the reaction is the same... PURE STUNNER!

Dave Johnson has put in both the time and thought to bring you a routine that can be done surrounded and with any thought of card. He has used this for a long time as the opening routine at the restaurants he works. It is also great for corporate events. It combines the ideas that you have to both roll with the punches and be adaptable to change. It's a great trick for children also. Normally, kids do not like card magic unless there is a color change so this works for them, too. If you are a magician (restaurant, corporate or doing birthday parties) buy this trick now.

Oh yeah... like I need another card trick... YES, you do! I almost didn't buy this just because I felt I had enough cards, I mean how many gimmicks do you need... Man I am glad I got this awesome trick!. The setup is a little weird at first but after a few minutes it feels almost self working. With a little practice (and I mean just a little) it is impressing me the ease of performance, simple reset, and amazing results.

There is a 12 page booklet with some good instructions and pictures (color would have been nice). In the booklet there is also a link to some downloadable instructional videos. There are 9 videos, sort of - well a couple with the horses don't really count, but are silly and fun so it is ok. With the booklet and videos the handling is presented very thoroughly. And the horses are amusing.

The trick as a trick is honestly not that good. You weave face-up cards into face-down cards, only to show that they've restored with a different-colored back design without showing the restored faces. The handling is a little knacky, but nothing impossible. As an alternate idea, he discusses a method that uses the overhand shuffle as opposed to the faro, since non-magician spectators are more-likely to be familiar with the overhand shuffle. I do not understand why the overhand shuffle method, which technically is supposed to look more natural to the laymen, was not considered to be the main method. By including it as an extra, it tells me that the creator of this effect intended the main method to be for magicians. And honestly, the overhand shuffle method doesn't look that natural.

The original version of Triumph allows for spectator involvement because they select a card. Horse of a Different Color is more of a "Hey, I'm a magician, look what I can do" type of trick than the standard Triumph.

love this trick , lots of magic in such a small space.
you won't be disappointed with the trick there is so much going on for the layperson there heads will spin.
although you do have to provide something first before you can do the trick which most will have but i think it should have been provided so it can be done straight out of the box, but having said that, it is still worth every penny in my eyes

The color change on the deck is pretty astonishing for spectators Report this review

One of my favorite tricks, top of the list of my three favorite tricks of all time, the other two are the spreadwave by Mattieu and Xbox by Schaller. The method to perform such a stunning trick is quite simple, it does not require to any sleight of hand, the only part that requires little practice is the faro, but there are tons of youtube video tutorials on that. Overall an amazing trick that will leave your audiences astounded and clueless.

A++!!!! I can not rate this any higher! This FLOORED me! I work at the Renaissance Festival and gave this a rigorous test drive today. Absolutely blows people away! It is one of those tricks that is SO good, they just smile or drop their jaws and go, "Huh." It is that good! No one figured it out, and the best part, it is easy to do. What you see in the demo, are the only moves required. The reset is not that bad either, and this trick really can be done surrounded. If you do not like the faro, you can overhand shuffle the cards as well which is nice. DEFINITELY BUY THIS TRICK!!!!! WORTH IT!!!!!

I really like this effect, and perform it whenever I can. It is creative, doesn't require difficult sleights, and has huge impact. I highly recommend it!

I have to say that this is one of the most inventive handlings of an effect like this that I've seen in a long time. The ONLY real skill you need is to be able to do a decent FARO shuffle to get the full effect. The impact on the spectator is complete, just look at the video, it tells the whole story. It's actually surprising just to perform for yourself -- the moment the card backs all rearrange themselves and change color is really awesome.

Watch the additional deck boxes you buy! Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on November 16th, 2012
This is a great trick, though you have to buy a couple of your own Bicycle decks to complete the set. Since I needed a red deck and a blue deck, I found it convenient that they were sold in packages of two (one red, one blue) at Target. However, within that set, the blue deck just has text on the back, and the red deck shows the back of BOTH color cards. When I performed the trick once using the red deck, someone said afterward "well, it's obviously a trick deck, the box clearly shows that!", and they were right - the box makes it look like an undisguised store-bought trick - totally unintentionally!! Picture here - http://dyz.com/otherstuff/reddeck.jpg Try to avoid getting this particular box (or just don't show the back of the box... or switch it out with another red deck you may have that doesn't involve a color change).
