If you are buying this book for tricks then you’re buying it for the wrong reason save your money and time. This book will elevate your performance to the next level. Stop wasting time learning new tricks and start perfecting the ones you already know.

If you watch magicians on YouTube, you'll quickly find that many of them do the same tricks, but some of them stand out while others don't. The thing that makes a simple trick powerful is scripting, and this book will help you turn your show into something amazing.

There are tricks taught here, but it isn't the effects you really want to concentrate on as much as it is the scripting involved that turns it into something more than a simple card trick. You are given emotional investment into the magic more than just "Watch me and I'll do something cool". There are essays from incredible performers like Eugene Burger, Teller, Max Maven, and others who escalate their shows to a higher level through theatrics.

One of the scripts involved one of the first card tricks I ever learned and one I still do today. With a simple scripting change and nothing else, the ending of the trick changed dramatically and suddenly it all clicked to make the trick so much more. Instantly I felt the water rise and the depth of my show increase just a little more.

You shouldn't read through this in a hurry. Take your time, make notes, and really study what is happening in the scripts you are reading. You're going to find places in your own performance where you can add depth and emotional attachment for your spectator. This is money well-spent for me.

I actually bought Scripting Magic #1 years ago when it came out. I just bought it again and sent it to my Grandson who is starting to show interest in magic.

Here's the bottom line. Do you want to just do tricks or do you want to make your magic more significant, more likable, more relevant, more personal to your audience? If the latter this book tells you how to do that through scripting your various magicial presentations.

An amazing book, right up there with Tarbell's Course in Magic and Rice's Encyclopedia of Silks. Whether you're writing a script for just one routine or a whole show, you need this book! As one of the chapters says, you already script every trick you do, even if you decide to wing it! You are doing yourself and your audience a disservice if you don't write a script. I also like the large number of sample scripts you include as examples to demonstrate your points. It allows me to see how others script their routines! While kudos to all those who collaborated on this book, I want to give a special shout out to Eric Henning for his really fun story script he uses for a kids routine. He demonstrates it's not always about the trick, but about the story that goes with it.

This book helped me a lot with presentational ideas, something I have been struggling with. Many full routines with great patter/presentations to practice with to gain confidence. Highly recommended and a must have if you are just starting out performing.
