Egg Vase and silk red.

I am thinking about purchasing the wood egg vase and silk in your opinion is this effect more of a classic collection piece because everyone know how it’s done? It is part of just about every kids magic kit. Oh and what is the silk? Does it come with a silk and if so how is it used?
