The truth is that there is little chance that they will see duplicates while going through the cards. The more command and presence you have onstage, the closer to "no chance" you get. However, in informal gatherings with friends or family, the correct answer is "there is some chance that they will see duplicates while going through the cards."

Also, although you don't need to use your pocket, why wouldn't you want to use Max's superb presentation? That, after all, is 90% of the trick's value!
