This trick is 5* in design and in theory --- but in reality
it is almost 0*, because you can't
use it unless you have 20/20 eye sight, or you can easily identify an 8px font size
dot shape
from 2 feet.
If you don't have such eye sight --- then it is almost a junk,
the most
you can do this trick is to a person sitting next to you by a bright table top.
Sounds like a personal problem and nothing to do with the product itself.
You can also customize the cards to suit your vision requirements or consider your performance setting in favor of a setting with more light.
One of the above commenters is correct in that your problem with it has nothing to do with the trick. It is a fantastic trick which always gets really good reactions. I am 71 and need readers for some types of close-up work. Nothing wrong with using readers (or regular glasses)as most people realize that vision changes with age and there’s a large percentage of people who need some sort of vision correction. It is not a negative. I know that some magicians do not want to wear any kind of glasses but, as someone who went almost 70 years not needing any correction at all (and did magic for 40 of those years), I can assure you that I get exactly the same type of response from laymen now as I did when I wore no glasses. I encourage you to ditch that hang up, get some good readers, and go out and slay some laymen with a few of the thousands of excellent effects available for relatively little cost on the Penguin website. Don’t let anything slow you down, particularly not something like a little vision problem that can be corrected. Happy hunting. The targets are out there by the millions! And remember that Vernon wore glasses.
