This is good and the payoff is great. But I think the routine as shown is way too long. I'm going
to try to modify it as spectators will lose interest (as seen in the performance section). However,
it looks like you may need the long routine to do all the dirty work for the ending. I will have to
test this on real audiences first.
I think your opinion is very valid, but also, I would keep in mind that his audience was pretty disorderly and intoxicated, and both of his participants were somewhat either confused or downright adversarial, which did not exactly help the pacing. I would argue that this routine would fit much better in a formal closeup setting where the audience was attentive, It looks like they took the routine out to a local bar to film, and were not discerning enough as to the qualities of the audience. Honestly, I feel like this kind of audience should’ve gotten a quicker trick or routine, and this one should have been saved for a more focused couple or crowd.
I think that performance situation did not do justice for the routine, which when viewed politely, would be an intriguing premise and brilliant execution of such a plot. I just wish they would have used the P3 studio and a sober audience to make a better impression.
