Semi-Automatic Card At Number

In Lesson 6 of the ACAAN Project, Dani takes a short break with you to focus on naturalness. You’ll learn an incredibly direct self-working Card At Number that doesn’t require you to focus on the psychology of the spectator. In the Semi-Automatic Card At Number, the deck is thoroughly shuffled and tossed onto the table in a random heap. One spectator grabs a clump of cards from the heap on the table and counts how many cards they have taken secretly. This number will be the position of the card. A second spectator cuts a random pile off the remaining cards on the table and looks at the card on the bottom packet to note its suit. A third spectator takes a small packet of cards from the first spectator and counts that group of cards to make the value of the selected cards. All the cards are returned to the table whereupon the position, suit, and value of the card are all revealed. The magician fairly counts down to that number, and the card at that position match the suit and value named by the spectators earlier. Unbelievable.

The lesson, a half-hour in length, is a deep dive into Danni’s thoughts and philosophies of naturalness during a performance. Key takeaways for the student are:

Naturalness
Naturalness is more than just your movements when executing sleight of hand. Even during a self-working card trick, there is always a moment where something sneaky must happen. Dani takes you through not only the handling of the effect but also the attitude and performance techniques that a master of naturalness can use to fly under the radar.

Gabi’s Elmsley
In an illustration of naturalness, you’ll learn a handling of The Elmsley Count that was shared with Dani by Gabi Parera. This handling will fool even the experts. In a casual fashion, four cards are counted out and tossed onto the table. Despite the nonchalant handling, one card is completely hidden even though the cards are handled so fairly.

Semi-Automatic Card At Number
This completely self-contained Card At Number effect requires a small setup but is packed with power. Nearly self-working, this effect gets multiple spectators involved for a very hands-off appearance that will fool everyone you perform it for. Easy enough for a beginner, this effect is powerful enough for working pros.

Lesson Six of The ACAAN Project is a brief respite from the hardcore principles and theory that have made up this course so far. It is a self-contained education on naturalness combined with a self-working effect that allows you to focus on your performance. In addition to learning the Semi-Automatic Card At Number, you’ll become privy to some of the secrets that make the magic of Dani DaOrtiz so disarmingly devastating. It’s time to go to school with Dani DaOrtiz in lesson Six of The ACAAN Project.

Dani never disappoints, and this is now my favorite lesson from him! This one is pure gold. The effect is easy, but what is most important is Dani's teaching about naturalness and presentation. His instruction in this lesson applies to all magic. This ACAAN effect is high impact because it is mostly hands off - it will stun lay people as well as experienced magicians. Thanks for this new addition to your ACAAN Project!

A powerful effect that draws in a number of assistants, is really easy and blows 'em away! And Dani DaOrtiz, as always, is a brilliant teacher, explaining the mechanics and psychology with wonderful exuberance. Terrific value.

This has got to be one of the best, if not the best, ACAAN I've seen of which there are many. It had me completely fooled, I have to admit! Absolutely great value for money.

Mindblowing Autostructure - Best Ever Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on July 18th, 2021
I'll call the ACAAN an AUTO-structured effect. There is a simple set-up with a structure. But absolutely no way to anticipate the structure. And best of all...no way to work backwards to the structure. No reason to even believe a set-up exists. And no mechanics to deliver the 3 coincidences of position, suit and number. The worker simply orchestrates the participants choices. Each choice a simple snatch of some cards..AND POOF. Your position... his suit...and her card. BRILLIANT!

I was so fooled when I watched the trailer for this effect that I thought it immediately. This is such a great, easy to do, hands off effect. I performed it for the 1st time last night and my spectators couldn't believe what they had seen and were talking about it for ages.
I have purchased a few of the ACAAN tricks in this series and have not been disappointed but this is so easy to do you can concentrate on performance.

This is such a lovely version of the ageless ACAAN effect, and so well explained by Dani. The process is so simple to remember but will always play very strong.
I can't recommend it enough. Certainly going to be an almost impromptu "go to".

Hmmm not EXACTLY like trailer Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on July 21st, 2021
If you watch close when he splits the critical spade packet he does not drop them in order...they are out of order....so hes bettin they dont pick the value he dropped out of order. He got lucky w that part....also the setup requires a cull if on the fly and an in order cull at that!! Without it, trick starts odd by just picking up deck....not sure he even gets the break at the start like instructs to do. Good trick tho but just pointing out few details in trailer that arent exact.
