Hoshi Lucky Star is an amazing piece of storytelling wrapped into a fantastic routine. Many of the
best and well-established storytelling pieces, in magic ( and theatre in general ), revolve around
easy to perform effects that allow the performer to put his effort into the script, more than the
moves used to allow the effect to come to a successful conclusion. Another aspect of great
storytelling routines is the directness and ease of understanding on the part of the spectator.
Amongst the other important aspects of great storytelling is the conveyance of meaning and
importance to them and their lives. With Hoshi’s Lucky Star you check all of these boxes and more,
this is another phenomenal effect from the creative mind of Sudo Nihm. As with all of the Sudo’s
works I have never been disappointed with the quality and strength of the effect. With Hoshi’s
Lucky Star, Sudo has taken an effect out of obscurity and brought it to the light of day with a few
changes and updates in scripting and created a wonderfully beautiful piece of theatre. While he
admits this routine may not be for everyone. You would be well served if your a fan of mystery arts
or storytelling to take a look at this manuscript. This routine is an awesome example as to why it
is so important to create meaning and how far-reaching things become when you touch the hearts of
people and include them in the magic. I have been lucky enough to have a few manuscripts by Sudo,
and have never been disappointed by his creative, thoughtful nature and well-detailed manuscripts.
Please check out his other works, they are well worth the time and you won’t be sorry. Sudo, thanks
for sharing your gifts and talents with the magic community.
